2019 had lots of challenges and changes. It was also the year that sustainability, together with climate change, attracted lots of public attention. It was reported that during Paris fashion week in September, the climate was front and center of the issues. Kering, the French fashion conglomerate, led sustainability pledge and said they will go carbon neutral, paying off the emissions that the company cannot eliminate in its operations. LVMH set their own sustainability goals competing against its rival, Kering. Now more than ever, we are aware that the fashion industry is harming the planet with its ever-increasing waste and pollution. Consumers and regulators began to pay attention. Resale and rental business models are growing increasingly on the backdrop of the sustainability movement.
However, this is an issue that there is no quick fix but sustainability has already become a marketing tactic.
With the amount of information available now to us, how do we evaluate how valid it is? How do we stay informed and make wiser choices? These are the questions that I often ask myself. AGENdA was born with the idea of creating timeless pieces in the best sustainable material but I know that is not enough. To tackle the enormous waste problem, our business mindset has to shift fundamentally. And to do that, we, as consumers need to educate ourselves and have a solid understanding. This is one of the reasons that I have the blog on AGENdA's website. I hope to share what I have learned and discovered with just one more person like you. It is a small act and we are only staring. So let's welcome 2020 with hope.
Thank you for taking part in our journey.
Happy New Year.
